Leslie serves as an impartial investigator for sensitive and complex complaints in the workplace and on campus. She investigates a variety of issues, including workplace harassment, fraud and compliance, whistleblower complaints and sexual misconduct. She frequently conducts investigations with all levels of employees and types of witnesses, including those involving executives, elected and private board members, the public, sworn officers, physicians, patients, educators, students and legal and human resources professionals.
Leslie also provides legal advice on state and federal employment law. Leslie’s areas of specialty include disability accommodations, harassment, retaliation, wage-hour compliance, reorganizations and traditional labor law matters. She partners with employers to ensure employment law compliance, from comprehensive, all-inclusive reviews to targeted analysis of high-risk employment issues. Additionally, she negotiates and prepares employment agreements and separations, and assists employers with developing and implementing workplace policies and procedures.
Prior to co-founding Ellis Buehler Makus, Leslie worked in the nationally recognized employment law department of Paul Hastings, where she counseled and litigated for employers across all industries. In addition, she served as inhouse employment counsel at a major California healthcare system.
Leslie received her Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
